My name is Basil Reynolds. I was the founding member of the London Rhyme Syndicate a pioneering Hip Hop group in the eighties. We featured on the successful single ‘it is time to get funky’ with D-Mob. I have led and successfully developed and managed a range of projects for young artists where I focus on strategies to support them towards achieving their career and personal targets. I have pioneered a church, organized youth retreats and a march against violence in 2009. I have completed the Destiny Life Coaching Course and I am equipped to use various tools to help unlock potential. I am working in partnership with LIMF Academy to support potential musicians/creatives to overcome their barriers to inclusion. Having a successful career in music has allowed me to transition my experience to help motivate, develop and inspire new talent.
I have recently written my journey, Footprints in the Concrete. It is a story that will take you from the stage in packed venues to the foot of the cross. It focuses on life through the eighties with the backdrop of the emerging Hip Hop movement. Through this journey I was able to discover my true identity in Christ and the liberating power that gives for me to be. The book can be used as a tool to inspire as well as a GPS for those growing up having to work their way through limiting beliefs.
I have developed a series of teachings using Hip Hop, called the Classroom Cypher. The course aim is to motivate, inspire and energize a generation. True hip hop mobilizes and brings together. It is a series of workshops that use the culture of the past to shape the future. Each session is divided into chapters, looking at the origins and rise of hip hop as an artistic form and global cultural phenomenon.
I have battled with limiting beliefs in society and worked through how I respond to the questions it brings. This has led me to become a coach, mentor, speaker who specialises in seeing creatives function as their best selves.
Can I get your attention?
The rhyme drops can you feel the connection,
It’s like a wave and it’s moving in sections,
Front to back this is the direction,
I keep moving the key is will you follow me,
If your propping up the walls then it bothers me,
If you’re looking for a squabble then unfollow me,
If hate is in your heart listen to me,
Get in the flow, coz real life is in this,
It’s like a light, and so I’m moving with this,
I’m dreaming good times, like it’s supposed to be,
It’s Reynolds why don’t you come with me. REYNOLDS
‘If you don’t know where your going any road will take you there.’
